Air Knives

Air Knives

Used to strip water from cooled strands, our air knives are available in two (2) different configurations - pressure- and vacuum-type.  No matter which type your application requires, we have an air knife that can do the job.

A complete assembly consists of the air knife, a pressure blower sized to the application, an adjustable support frame, and optional connecting tubing and fittings.  The air knife features 304 stainless steel construction and can be either directly connected to the blower, or the blower can be located remotely to save valuable floor space.

Pressure-type air knives can be supplied in a single or dual-nozzle configuration, depending on the application.  The air slots in these knives are strategically placed to provide a balanced air flow, reducing the impact of the air on the surface being dried, and allowing for a more efficient use of blower horsepower. The slots are sized for your particular application.

Pressure-type air knives are also equipped with a guide bar assembly to help direct the flow of strands as they pass over the knife.

Vacuum-type (suction) air knives are typically used in conjunction with Sterling's Water Strippers to help eliminate the water splashing sometimes associated with pressure-type air knives.  They feature an easily replaceable guide bar assembly and screen, which prevents the strands from entering the knife.  The knife typically has a 1" wide slot and comes in a variety of lengths, depending on your specific needs.   The slots are designed to provide a balanced air flow in the system and reduce noise.
